The schooner tour is certainly one of Paraty's most traditional itineraries. For those unfamiliar, a schooner is a type of vessel for high-sea excursions. They can be small, medium, or large, and offer daily tours that can be shared or private. Shared tours are more cost-effective, ideal for solo travelers or families, while private tours offer more privacy and flexibility, ideal for couples and groups.

This is an itinerary you can enjoy all day! After all, tours usually last an average of 5 hours, stopping at beaches and islands in Paraty Bay. Typically, departure is at 11:00 AM and return at 4:00 PM, but some boats have alternative departure times, which can vary between 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM or 11:30 AM and 4:30 PM.
Schooners offer onboard services such as a bar and restaurant, restrooms, savaging equipment, music, support boats, floats, snorkel rentals, and photographers. They also typically offer complimentary fruit and coffee at the end of the trip, which is always a welcome way to recover after a day at sea. Important information: You are not allowed to bring anything for your own consumption on board, as coolers and coolers, in addition to providing onboard services, interfere with the weight and space of the vessels.
The most traditional itineraries make two stops at beaches and two more stops at islands, totaling four stops per tour. A support boat takes those who wish to go to the sand on the beaches, and at these two stops, you can wade in the water to the depth that suits you most.

On the two islands visited, the attraction is deep-sea diving, with the aid of floats if desired, and a delightful experience with different species of fish. The islands visited are owned and privately owned, so diving is the only option allowed; staying on dry land is not permitted. If you can't swim or don't feel comfortable on the high seas, the alternative is to stay on the boat, enjoying the scenery and enjoying a nice drink or fresh juice. Each stop lasts an average of 35 to 40 minutes.
As one of the most traditional routes in Paraty, the variety of schooners is vast. They offer a variety of options and services, as well as prices and itineraries. Most operate responsibly, adhering to all regulations and safety measures, respecting the vessel's permitted capacity, and adequately training their crews. Unfortunately, not all comply with all their legal obligations, so be vigilant and be wary of schooners that operate at prices significantly lower than the average. The best option is always to purchase your tour through agencies; this way, if something doesn't go as planned, you have a reference and can request support.

While this is an incredible trip on sunny days, it can also be done on overcast days. The itinerary takes place within Paraty Bay, with sheltered beaches and islands, so even in the rain, it's not a dangerous option. The vessels are covered and stable, so don't be shy if you encounter bad weather—this is an unmissable trip any time of year. Do it!
